Kids Leading the Way for Our Planet
The Earth Day Kids is a grassroots movement based in Philadelphia, dedicated to peace and environmental responsibility. We inspire young people to protect our planet, go green, and build safer, more united communities because a healthy environment and a peaceful neighborhood go hand in hand.
Our Mission & Vision
Our Mission
The Earth Day Kids is committed to fighting pollution and harmful environmental practices by raising awareness and encouraging sustainable actions. Through education, advocacy, and community engagement, the organization works to protect the natural environment and promote choices that benefit the Earth.
Our Vision
We envision a future where every young person in Philadelphia and beyond feels empowered to protect the planet and their community. Through education, unity, and creative expression, we imagine neighborhoods that are both environmentally sustainable and peacefully whole, where the next generation leads with confidence and compassion.
Our History
Every movement starts somewhere. Ours started with a simple idea: that kids don’t have to wait until they grow up to make a difference.
The Earth Day Kids was founded in 2007 in Philadelphia, growing out of roots in community activism and a shared belief that young people can lead real change. In April 2009, our young performers took the stage at a Philadelphia Phillies game, a moment that showed just how far a group of committed kids and community members could go.
Since then, we’ve grown through performances, projects, and community activities, from raising awareness through music and spoken word to purchasing and providing flags and materials that support our events and outreach.
Every project has been built the same way: by kids, for their community, one action at a time.
Today, we continue that work from our home base at 5934 Race Street in Philadelphia, connecting with our community online and in person as we grow this movement together.
